Bombers Eggbutt Elliptical Lock Up Bradoon is a double-jointed bradoon with fixed rings and an elliptical centre link featuring a Lock Up function. The design limits how far the mouthpiece can fold backwards, reducing the pinching action on the bars that can occur with a conventional double-jointed bit.
Its elliptical centre link concentrates pressure over a smaller area of the tongue. According to Bombers, this provides a more pronounced action than their Control Plate, while the Lock Up design makes it softer on the bars than a conventional Elliptical. This model is recommended for horses that are unsettled in the contact and require greater stability and clearer separation of the rein aids.
Fixed eggbutt rings provide a stable feel against the sides of the horse’s mouth and help reduce the risk of pinching at the corners or the bit being pulled sideways through the mouth. Compared with loose rings, the eggbutt design provides a slower release and introduces light poll pressure.
